We encourage parents to go to Adults' conference - but they can check on their child whenever they want.
Please do not leave conference area without your child unless you have special arrangements!
If you plan to go to Questacon on Sunday, please express your interest on the registration table.
All kids need to have their parent's contact number given during the registration and written on event passes hanging off their lanyards.
Overview:
Friday
- early arrival meetup - to be announced closer to the date - unofficial
- icebreakers - 7pm (optional add-on, highly advisable!)
- social games in Breakout room from 10pm onwards
Saturday
- 8am - morning tea & breakfast
- 9am - conference opening
- 9.30 - 12.30 - kids conference - various activities other challenging and/or fun providers!
- 12.30 - 13.30pm lunch
- 13.30pm - 5pm kids conference, challenge your minds and make friends! (afternoon tea included) - control Sphero balls with iPads! (SWISH) - Dr Stephen Dann; ANU; Lego Serious Play
- 7pm till late - Gala dinner (optional add-on; highly advisable; theme is Futurism)
Gala dress code: You cannot go wrong. Theme is Futurism, but you can do everything from formal to smart casual. Some people even wear costumes sometimes. So don't worry, just dress presentable and enjoy your time with others!
Sunday
- Parents with kids are invited to join Questacon visit as we will have our own space & activities starting at 9.30am (please arrive by 9.15)
- Activities finish at 12.30, feel free to explore or go to National Library of Australia next door for lunch and a dedicated free Mensa tour of exhibition Cook and Pacific starting at 2pm. After that, you can go on 4th floor to see huge multimedia presentation of Cook's exploration of Pacific, starting every full hour, 20 mins before and 20 mins past. Open till 5pm.
On Sunday, 4th of November, we will have a tour to Questacon. Let’s meet at 9.15am at the information corner next to the RobotQ on the ground floor of Questacon. Then, we will pay the entry fee individually at the ticket desk (Kid: $17.5; Adult: $23).
Our tour consists of three sections. From 0930-1030, we will go to the Japan Theatre to attend the science talk by Mr. Ryan Riddle-Harper about the origin of atoms in the Universe. From 1030-1130, I will give you a special challenge to help you explore different exhibitions in Questacon. From 1145-1230, please gather at the Japan Theatre to enjoy the Spectacular Science Show.
